Aquamarine is the sibling of Emeralds from the Beryl family. The lovely light blue colour. Aquamarine can be found in near colourless and darker deeper shades of blue.  It measures a hardness of between 7 and 8.

Aquamarine can be found in deposits of Beryl, the presence and influence of Iron causes the lovely blue shades, and when heat treated can become near colourless. Aquamarine can be found in Brazil, USA, Sri lanaka, Colombia, Zambia, Madagascar, Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya.

The word Aquamarine derives from latin meaning: 'water of the sea'
